In the perfect mushroom weather of the Virunga Mountains in Northern Rwanda, thousands of farmers expertly and tenderly grow oyster mushrooms, supported by Kigali Farms. We have also set up a mushroom growing plant in Musanze where we grow white button, cremini and Portobello mushrooms under the strictest quality standards.
Kigali Farms is proud to be the largest premium producer of HACCP and S-Mark certified quality mushrooms in East Africa. Our product range includes oyster mushroom substrates, fresh and canned mushrooms as well as mushroom derived products. Mushrooms contribute to the recommended daily intake of several vitamins and minerals.
Our mushrooms are proudly grown and packed in Rwanda to give you the freshest ¬flavours every time.
Tree oyster mushroom substrates
A mushroom substrate is a substance on which mycelium, a collection of cells that produces vegetative growth of a fungus; it is similar to that of an apple tree as the foundation of growing apples.
We currently use cottonseed hulls as our primary raw material, and obtain yields of up to 400 grams of mushroom per 1 kg of substrate. That is the best production rate in the country.
